The Tears that Run Down My Face
What have I done? Those were the only thoughts circulating in Sirius Black's mind.
He held his face in his hands, desperately thinking of a way to undo what he had said and done. Was he some kind of idiot?
"What have I done?" He repeated, this time, aloud.
What a stupid mistake he had made.
"Yo James, I'm so bored, let's play a prank on Snivellus or something." Sirius had said.
"Sorry man, but I promised Lily that I wouldn't bother him anymore." James said apologetically. "As much as I would like to, a promise is a promise, you know?"
"Seriously? You're so boring to be around now, Prongs. All you do is flirt with Lils and you never play pranks anymore." Sirius said.
"Sorry… I guess it's because I've kind of matured now." James said, pushing his glasses up his nose.
"Come on, Prongsie. Just once, one final time to play a prank on Snivellus." Sirius pleaded.
"Sorry…" James repeated, looking at him apologetically.
"Dammit James! What kind of person have you become? Do you really put Lily over me? Honestly?" Sirius exploded, stalking away.
Sirius sighed, as he got up and began to pace.
What should he do? He couldn't just leave things like this. Fear struck him, as he imagined a world without his best friend.
Sirius decided to meet James and apologize.
He quickly walked out and bumped right into James.
"E-er J-James I-I-"
"S-Sirius I n-need-"
"You go first." Sirius said, smiling at him.
"No, no, you go first." James said.
"No, no it's just that-" Sirius began.
There was an awkward silence and the tension in the air got thicker.
"I'm sorry!"
"I'm sorry!" They both said at once.
"I'm sorry that I've been almost deserting you, and not thinking about your opinions and feelings." James said.
"I'm sorry for calling you boring and insulting Lily. I'm sorry!" Sirius said, looking down at his feet ashamed.
"No, it's my fault. Although Lily is important to me, I can't forget you and the others completely. I don't know, it's probably since I finally got Lily, I can't bear to lose her now. I'm sorry, Pads."
"Why are you apologizing?! It's my fault completely. I understand what you feel, and I hope you can forgive me." He said.
"You are forgiven. Always and completely forgiven. Not that there's anything that needs to be forgiven… but you know, I will always forgive you no matter what happens." James said, laughing.
"Same to you." Sirius laughed with him.
"Oi, let's go and play a prank on the girls, why don't we?" James asked.
"Excluding Marlene of course." Sirius said.
"And Lily." James added.
"And if we did something to Alice they'd kill us…" Sirius said.
"There's no one fun to bother then…" James said, sighing.
"How about…" Sirius said, eyes lighting.
James caught on. "Remus and Peter?"
"Let's get going already, why don't we?" Sirius said as they began to plan.
"James!" Tears ran down Sirius' face as he held James' body in his arms. "How could you? Frank's gone… Alice is gone… M-Marlene is gone… Now you and Lily!"
Sobs stuck in his throat as he swallowed the lump.
His best friend was gone. Gone. Gone forever.
How was he supposed to live?
