Kel had been warned by Neal that if she didn't do anything about her feelings towards Dom, he would. Needless to say Kel didn't want that to happen. Kel tried to think of a way out of torture by Neal, but the only way was to do what he wanted. Kel sat herself down and thought of ways to tell Dom she liked him. Finally she had an idea.
First, she enlisted the help of Yuki. Kel knew that Yuki would help her.
"Could you just ask Neal to forget about it?" Kel tried hopefully.
"No, Kel, you know it doesn't work that way." Yuki answered "Besides it will be good for you." So Yuki helped Kel write a note to Dom. First Yuki showed Kel how to write flowery like the ladies were taught in the Convent. Then helped Kel actually write the note.
Next, Kel dropped the note off in Dom's room. She dropped it off with papers from Raoul while he was practicing with the Own. Kel went back to her room and retrieved her glaive. She did pattern dances until she remembered that Neal promised to do something drastic. She ran and informed Neal that she wrote Dom a note. Kel was leaving as Dom knocked on Neal's door.
Kel left and headed outside where she practiced jousting. After a while she decided she had practiced enough. She brushed down Peachblossom and cleaned her equipment. She ate dinner with her friends at the knight's mess hall. They talked and laughed.
A week later Kel convinced Neal to practice fencing. They talked while practicing.
"What did you write in the note?" asked Neal "He's been acting weird." Kel knew what he was talking about.
"Why do you think it is the note I wrote?" asked Kel "and not something else?"
"Because Kel, he told me he found a note in his room and didn't know who it was from. He's been talking to me about it all week. Did you put your name on it?"
"No" Kel admitted. She rested her sword on his throat. "I win."
"Tell him its from you or I will." Neal threatened. Neal practically dragged Kel to Dom's room. Neal knocked on the door. When Dom opened it, Neal pulled Kel in front of him.
"Hi, Kel and Meathead" Dom said when he saw it was them. Neal grumbled something about it being 'Sir Meathead' to him. "Can I help you?"
"Hi...well, um, uh, I'll just go." Kel said blushing and tried to move away, but Neal held her in place. Then she said quietly "I wrote a note."
Dom looked confused. Then he pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and asked "This note?" Kel nodded. She pulled out of Neal's grasp and quickly escaped. She ran to the stables and sat in Peachblossom's stall. No one who enjoyed being whole would bother her there.
After a little while Kel heard footsteps coming towards where she was.
"Kel?" Dom asked.
"I'msorryIwrotethenoteIgetyoudo n'tlikemelikethatI'msorry" she said quickly. She stood up, brushed off her tunic and walked away from Peachblossom. Dom caught her arm.
"But I do like you" he said, and then he kissed her.
