I tried to kill the pain…
Draco. The words tore me apart into little pieces. I needed to vent all of my sorrows before I blew up from anguish.
How come he doesn't love me?
Don't I hate him?
Why did I just keep on talking?
Draco and I used to be an "item". Everyone – that is, us- supported us. Draco and me. Me, Hermione Granger, Head Girl, best in class, and the know it all. Draco, 2nd smartest in class, witty, and all around hottie.
With his intellect- and sudden attractiveness- he slowly wooed me to him.
Our meetings were short and sweet. I became more submerged in happy-happy land. Too much, in fact, to notice the way he started acting.
Just to let you know, this dump wasn't at all cliché. Heart-breaking, yes, but cliché? No.
I started noticing his weirdness when he dropped the façade that I fell in love with. He was arguing with me non-stop, and sometimes, those arguments led to violence. And even on school nights, he drank and drank. I was often afraid to go to our meetings because he would say and do things that in the morning, he had no recollection of. No recollection means no empathy.
To make matters even worse, rumors spread around that he was dating Pansy Parkinson.
Another rumor came that he impregnated a couple of Hufflepuff girls. This hurt.
Like any girlfriend would, I confronted him about these obscene rumors. He told me the truth, at least.
"I'm not dating them," he said, "They're just plain shag buddies. Like you. Merlin, why are you such a cling-on?"
I started to sniff. A tear unintentionally slid down my face. "Draco," I said weakly, "that hurt. Take it back now." He didn't hear me. "You act to much like a jealous girlfriend, you know? Always nagging me about one thing or another. 'Draco, you drink too much! Draco, you're soo mean! Draco, why can't you spend more time with me? Draco, let's talk about our feelings!' Well, I'm sick of it!"
My little cries turned into sobs. He got really annoyed. "Stop CRYING!" he yelled. He hit me. He then left.
He didn't come back.
