Why did he have to go? It's been seven years I see him in my dreams every night. I wish I could join him but I have to stay strong for Alexander, he is Finn's little boy. Johanna now lives with me in district 4. She is still mildly scared of the water, on good days she will sit on the beach and let water go on her toes. We tell Alexander stories of our games but we do not dare tell him about when Johanna, Peeta and I were abused in the capital. Alexander is just like Finnick- he's kind, open to others, and loves making nets and catching fish with his dad's trident. He is only six but he knows about his dad and how he died to make the country a better place. Paylor is now president there are no games and the world is now in peace. Even the Capital people are happy with her work. She is great at understanding the needs of the people. Johanna and I own a net making business it's called "Odair Net-making" although Johanna is not an Odair. She tells people that she is finnick cousin, but in a way she is family. Alexander and I are all she has and she is all we have. Alexander, Johanna, and I walk to our net shop. Johanna and I go into the stock room and Alexander stays in the front of the shop.
"Are you going to tell him?" Johanna says.
I know exactly what she is talking about. Today was Finnicks death and the past years I did not tell Alexander when it was.
"Do you think he is old enough," I say quietly making sure Alexander would not hear from the next room. Johanna nods.
"Okay, well I'll tell him, should we bring him to the cemetery with us?" I say, uncertain.
"Sure…we are telling him so..." Johanna stops her sentence and her eyes fill with tears. She runs past alexander and runs out of the shop.
"Mom what wrong with Aunt Johanna?" Alexander yells from the other room.
I walk in the cashier room.
"Alexander seven years ago your dad died fighting for his country, making a better place for you to live in." I say while I fake a smile.
"So that's why Aunt Johanna was sad." Alexander says with a sad look one his face.
I nod and saying, "Your father and Aunt Johanna were very close."
Johanna comes in a couple minutes later with 4 set of flowers.
"Johanna why did you buy 4 sets to plant we only need two" I say, confused.
"I thought we could plant some flowers at Mags grave too" Johanna says sadly.
I nod and we jump in the car. We get to the cemetery and we go to Mags grave first we plant the green and blue flowers while Alexander asks about Mags we tell him that she was sweet, cared about others, and she was like Finnick's grandmother because they were so close. We also mention that Mags saved Finnick's life once. Once we were done we start walking to Finnick's grave. I look back to Mag's and smile. Once we came to Finnick's grave Johanna and I shed a couple of tears but we stay strong for Alexander. We plant the flowers and I ask Johanna to bring Alexander in the car and she does, talking to Finnick's sprit and saying "Yup, that's your little boy, isn't he just as cute as a button?" I see Johanna coming back without Alexander. Once she is gets to Finnick's gravestone, she kneels next to me and after a couple of moments of silence Johanna turns to me.
"You love him, after all this time"
I nod and say "Always"
