Author's Note: So, I don't know where this came from; I just started typing and this is what came out. This isn't part of any story (that I know of yet, I may put it in somewhere later if it fits), and this isn't quite the proper OC. She's just labelled as "girl" or "new girl". Now, that doesn't necessarily mean she's a new member of the team (as that would require a story behind it); I was thinking she's just a "new girl" in the room, like the last person to arrive. But imagine her however you want.
{{{For those who have read my other one-shot published on here, I just want to clarify that I don't THINK this is Melody. Because she's more of a developed character (meaning yes, I have written more on her story, it's just not ready to be published yet), and I wouldn't put Melody in the BAU's breakroom. However, since the story is not finished yet, I may very well find an opportunity to put her here - I just don't know yet. Unfortunately, my writing muse doesn't give me things in order. I just get random ideas.}}}
Anyway, this was inspired by the way Reid takes his coffee. With lots of sugar (and for the sake of the one-shot, I'm assuming that it's a dark roast of coffee).
Setting: The BAU Office breakroom.
"You know, you would probably be better off with a lighter roast if you're trying to increase your energy level," the girl replied casually.
Spencer paused with his coffee mug halfway to his lips. "What do you mean?"
"Well, you're drinking a darker roast of coffee, with a copious amount of sugar in it, right? Well, that actually has less caffeine in it because when the coffee is made, the beans made for the darker roasts are cooked longer, and therefore causes the caffeine to be cooked out. The bitter taste with the darker roast is actually the charcoal that's been cooked into it. It's the lighter roasts of coffee that actually have more caffeine because the beans are cooked in less time, and it also keeps a lot of the flavors in. So, in the long run, you wouldn't need the sugar in a light roast because you're already getting enough flavor as well as more caffeine."
Everyone's eyes darted from Spencer's mutual face to the new girl, now sipping her own mug of tea. Finally, the male genius took a large drink out of his mug before replying, "I knew that."
The girl's eyebrows raised just slightly, but otherwise her expression remained the same.
"I just like my coffee with less caffeine and really sweet," Spencer continued.
She responded with a polite nod and turned her heel to exit the breakroom, leaving Spencer at the mercy of his colleagues.
"Reid, you just got owned!" Morgan roared with laughter.
"No I didn't," he began to argue back but was stopped by Prentiss.
"Yeah, yeah you did," the woman croaked between chuckles. "You lied about already knowing the caffeine information. It was in your tone of voice."
"That's not - "
"Reid, did you forget that you're with a team of profilers?" Garcia joked, slightly holding onto Morgan to keep from falling over from her laughter.
Spencer sighed, realizing his inability to argue with his teammates in their state of frenzies. Wrapping his hands around the warm coffee mug, he wordlessly left the room.
So yeah, I know it's short, but it's just a random scene. PLEASE rate and comment, your opinion means EVERYTHING.
Also, THANK YOU to all those who commented on "Coming home to her". It moved me to nearly to tears to know that people like my work. It was you guys who have encouraged me to write more of Melody's story. Updates on her soon!
