Disclaimer: I do not own 7th Heaven. It belongs to Brenda Hampton. I am a huge 7th heaven fan. I enjoy it immensely. I wrote this after I saw the season finale. It took me forever to type it up. Hopefully you'll like it.

Spoliers: A lot so if you haven't seen the 7th, 8th, and 9th seasons. Don't read it.

He Wonders

He looks at his son as he runs around the yard. He knows he'll have to answer his questions. He'll have to tell him about his mom. He wonders how he'll take it, if he'll understand that Mary was never made for motherhood or the family life. Once a free spirit always a free spirit.

He wonders if he'll be able to face the pain he's been holding at bay all these years. Four years and she hasn't even bothered to call them. Just because she relinquished her parental rights doesn't mean she should totally abandon them. But he knows she won't call or that if she does he'll probably hang up. It's been too long and the pain has had too much time to fester and become infected with his hatred.

He wonders if Charlie will ever forgive her. If he, his parents, and the Camdens have really raised him to be a kind and loving person. A person who is kind and wise enough to forgive Mary for her own nature. To forgive the woman who abandoned her family and not hold it against her.

He wonders if she still loves them. If they haunt her thoughts as much as she does theirs. He hopes that she's safe, even after everything he still loves her. He knows he always will and that's why he can't move on. He hates her for stealing his heart in the first place.

But most of all he wonders if Charlie was better off without Mary. Then Charlie looks better off without Mary. Then Charlie looks up at Carlos as if reading his mind. Charlie runs into his arms and plants a kiss on his cheek saying, "I love you daddy." And then Carlos knows that yes, Charlie is better off without Mary. He has two sets of grandparents who love him and lost of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and family friends who lavish him with their love. It is then that Carlos smiles because he know's Charlie is going to be okay. And maybe someday he will be too.
