He walked broodingly through the hallways, giving stern looks to all the servants he passed by. Filled with bitterness and anger he passed by the room where she stayed.
After seeing her walk hand in hand with the Avatar he had nothing else on his mind but to throw away the book. To remove her from his mind and soul. He had to do throw it away, needed to do it. If only in the smallest attempt to try and forget about her. It was all that he could do.
With a deep sigh and heavy heart he settled onto the garden bench where he last sat with her. Looking around the garden he stifled a cry and said to himself, "I tried."
Katara was smiling. Filled with happy tears and butterflies attempting to fly free from inside of her, she stood mesmerized. She was free. Free to be happy, to be passionately happy, to be in love with Zuko. She could hardly contain herself.
She wanted him in her arms. Yearned for the taste of his lips in hers and the warmth of his golden eyes on her. "Okay Katara," she said quietly to herself, "go."
She walked towards the palace. Under the majestic archways covered in green vines, steadily walking with more bounce and confidence in each step forward. She tried to breathe. Deeply inhaling and then giggling nervously as she exhaled.
Her feet began to walk faster. Not knowing which way he was or which way to go, she turned a corner. She stopped in her tracks. There he was.
Sitting on the garden bench with eyes closed, head leaned back, a few tears falling down his cheeks. Her heart caught in her throat. He was crying.
She didn't know what to do. Her body urged her forward, but she was stuck in place. Frozen in time. Looking at him longingly, she took a slow breath and softly approached him.
Zuko heard footsteps beside him and bitterly spat out, "go away Uncle!"The footsteps got closer and he angrily stood up, glaring at the intruder. His heart skipped a beat.
It was...it was her. She came back. His golden orbs reflected shock as they locked onto her blue ones. There was only a few feet between them and neither could break the distance. He couldn't breathe, all the air was sucked out of him.
There she stood. Looking from his eyes to his lips, she couldn't contain herself. Her hand touched his face. He shivered. The smallest touch of her hand made his whole body freeze. Her fingers softly caressed his lips. He brought her other hand to his neck and leaned down to kiss her.
Their lips locked in a passionate kiss, making a silent promise not to ever let each other go. Her tongue pushed into his welcoming mouth. With tongues and lips embracing they said everything. Her arms wrapped around his neck as his arms hooked her legs around his waist.
As he broke free for air he rested his forehead on hers and said, "Will you marry me?"
She looked deeply into his eyes and teasingly played with his lower lip. Sucking and nibbling it when she whispered on his lips, "yes."
