Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "A Big Surprise for Percy" from Season 5. Enjoy and comment.
Percy was feeling bored and lonely working in the coal yards, with his only company being the foolish freight cars.
"Cheer up Percy!" said his driver. "Sir Topham Hatt told me we have to come here again tomorrow. We just have to find the good of a bad situation."
"I'll try." sighed Percy.
Next morning, the freight cars began teasing Percy, singing him a song.
"Percy, Percy, green and small. He's no use to us at all! Around the yards he'll puff and blow, but on the yards he's oh so slow!"
"BE QUIET!" snapped Percy.
Later, Percy took the freight cars to the coal hopper to be loaded up.
Percy still felt glum as he puffed up to the top of the hill.
After dropping off the freight cars, he sadly puffed to the mines.
Even Bertie the Bus couldn't make Percy smile.
"What's wrong Percy?" asked Bertie.
"Nothing exciting ever happens!" sighed Percy. "It's always coal, coal and more coal! Plus, there's always foolish freight cars to make it worse! This makes me bored, bored, bored!"
"Excitement is all around!" replied Bertie. "You'll never know when it will happen!"
Then Bertie drove away.
"I want something surprising to happen!" muttered Percy.
Later, he stopped by the water-tower for a drink.
Toby was there.
"Hello Percy! How's everything?"
"Boring!"
"Have a few spins on the turntable." suggested Toby.
"That sounds silly." replied Percy.
Then, the driver interrupted.
"Time to go Percy!" he called. "Freight cars are waiting for us!"
"That will be exciting!" called Toby as Percy puffed away.
The freight cars were still grumbling when Percy arrived.
To make things worse, there were more of them than ever.
"You're too small!" grumbled a freight car. "We want a big, reliable engine!"
Then, the freight cars began to sing again.
"All night, all right, you can puff and blow! But on that hill, you're still too slow!"
"BE QUIET!" snapped Percy again.
"What a temperful engine!" giggled the freight cars.
But Percy didn't listen, and carried on with his job.'
The freight cars continued to tease Percy.
"Go faster, go faster!" they cried.
But then, there was trouble. A coupling broke, and the freight cars began rolling down the hill at warp speed!
"Oh no!" cried Percy.
The freight cars kept rolling down the hill, and Percy had to chase them!
The driver told the signalman what had happened, and the signalman told Sir Topham Hatt.
"They're heading for Gordon's hill. It will slow them down, but they might head right into the village!"
"We'll just have to stop them." said Sir Topham Hatt.
The chase was on!
Sir Topham Hatt and Bertie drove through the countryside, looking for the freight cars.
As they approached the hill, they overtook the freight cars,
Sir Topham Hatt and Bertie stopped and waited at the top of the hill.
Gordon's hill managed to stop the freight cars!
Then, workmen put brakes on the freight cars, so that they wouldn't move.
The freight cars were now secure!
Just then, Percy arrived.
"Was that a surprise or what?" asked Bertie.
"It was certainly a surprise!" replied Percy. "And a really useful engine should be surprised, by a surprise!"
