Christmas Morning

Ok, so this just a little one shot Christmas special thing, I just enjoyed writing it because it really seems to me like what would happen in the Swan-Mills household.

Christmas morning shone through the window of the mayoral mansion, waking Regina as the light brushed her eyes. "Mmm. Morning Dear." She hummed turning to face Emma. But the pillow next to her was empty. Her heart began racing. Though she and Emma had been together for two years, she was still fearful that the blonde would up and leave the first chance she got. Just as she was beginning to panic her phone pinged. "Merry Christmas! I'm your present!" It was Emma. Relief washed over Regina's face, followed swiftly by a wicked smirk as she began her reply.

Emma was in Granny's getting a bear claw and cocoa when she heard her phone bling. She sat down in the end booth with her breakfast as she read her girlfriend's reply "Can I have the receipt?" Seriously? She thought to herself laughing, but she pasted on a face of mock offence, though nobody could see her, as she punched in her reply. Then she patted the left pocket of her red leather jacket, checking that the real present was safe. She had to get up early that morning so that Regina wouldn't see her sneak off to Marco's to retrieve the precious object. Regina had a knack for guessing, and Emma really didn't want this surprise to be ruined.

Regina Chuckled to herself reading Emma's reply of "Wow." Serves her right, Regina thought to herself. She hated being left alone in the morning, knowing she wasn't the night before. She had showered and changed into her red dress, the one she wore that time she was with Robin, and Emma couldn't stop looking at her. Just then, she heard the door open and close, followed by the sound of heavy boots being shucked off and the familiar steps of a certain sheriff coming towards the study where she was sat, nursing a cider. She couldn't help the smug grin on her face as Emma's jaw dropped to the floor, her eyes taking in Regina's attire. "Wow!" she gasped.

"It seems, Miss Swan, that's the only word in your vocabulary today." Regina husked, grinning like a Cheshire cat. In response, Emma pulled out the velvet box that was residing in her pocket. Regina cautiously took it, her breath hitching in her throat. "What's this?" She asked, throat dry, not daring to take her eyes off the box in case it disappeared.

"It's your Christmas present, I was going to wait until tonight, when everyone was here, but, now I can't wait." Emma whispered tears forming in her eyes. Regina opened the box and gasped as she saw the deep purple gem sat in a gold band, on the inside, the words "I promised you a happy ending." were engraved in script. Regina looked up then, to find Emma no longer standing before her but on one knee. "Regina Mills, you have always had my back, and I want to always have yours. Whether we're fighting of monsters or breaking curses or just winding up my parents! I know that you're my true love, and I hope that I'm yours too. I promised a long time ago that I'd help you find your happily ever after, and now, I think I've found it. Regina, will you marry me?"

Regina's eyes were filled with tears and her heat was filled with love, she leapt into the arms of the woman in front of her kissing every inch of her face as she said, over and over again, "Yes, yes, yes!"
