I was walking around town just to walk really but for some reason, I was drawn to this computer game store. I guess it was all the colors or something but whatever it was, it had me at the door . Inside I could see games for various systems but I only had a PC so I still don't know what made me go in. I Without thinking, I walked inside.
"Hello," the store clerk said. "May I help you?"
"Uh...No I'm fine." I responded as I walked further inside. "I'm just ...uh...looking."
For what though? Why was I in there? I walked to a section in the far right corner of the store that had a big display. It was a life-size cardboard character dressed in odd clothing. He was in a fighting stance ,ready to attack at any moment with his giant sword. Then there was another character next to him. He had to blade things. He looked really cool and mysterious. Above him was the title of the game being displayed.
" 'The World'... " I read to myself.
"Ah,yes,"the store clerk said overhearing me. "The World is our most popular online
PC game. It's latest version is out. I think we have one copy left."
"Really?" I said, still mesmerized by the display of different characters,weapons, clothes,and actions. It was so interesting. It even felt familiar in a way. I had heard about it at school and in the news. Something about Dolls or...something. I don't know but it interested me. People did say it was fun. Maybe I should try it out.
"Last copy you say?" I still hadn't turned to face the clerk.
"Yes sir," he said nicely.
"I'll take it."
He scanned the brown game box ,"That'll be 6451.46 yen."
"Here you go," I handed him the money as he handed me the bag he put the game in.
"Thank you very much," he smiled. "Have a nice day."
As I walked out I heard a girl ask about 'The World'. The clerk responded to her, "Oh, we have one copy left of the latest version."
"Oh! I'll take it!" She said happily.
I can't believe I got suckered. Eh,oh well. When I got home, I openned the box and looked at what was inside. There was the game disc and instruction manual. There was even I little keychain of what looked like a grey cow.
Geez...What the hell is this? I thought and tossed it aside. I grabbed the manual and skimmed throught it. I don't need to read all this junk. I tossed that aside as well. After putting the disc in, I got ready to start.
" 'The World'..." I murmured. "It can't hurt to try it..."
