"Ok, that's it! I've been hearing that noise for 1 week straight and I can't get to sleep!!" yelled Kate Gathway. It was a cold and windy night and Kate couldn't get to sleep because of a very annoying sound. When she got her robe and slippers on, she followed that nerve-racking sound. The noise was coming from under her mansion's deck. When she looked under it
in curiosity, she found a girl!
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" The girl sat there shivering without an answer. "Well, come on in and have some hot cocoa!" Kate said and wiped her eyes because she was so tired!! "You could have just knocked on the door, I would have let you in!" "So is it fun under there?" The
girl shrugged with her head down. "Why are you here anyway?" The girl mumbled out "My parents died a while back and I don't know where any of my relatives live." She started to get louder as she talked. " What's your name?" Kate asked as if she didn't have anything else to say. " Who me, oh,
my name is Liz. Thanks and yours?" Mine is Kate, Kate Gathway," She
answered "I really like your house," Liz replied. "Well, that's good because you'll be staying here until we find one of your relatives," Said
Kate. " Maybe tomorrow we can go shopping for you Liz! We can have a slumber party." Liz pulled out a bag from under the blanket and started digging through it. "What's in there?" Kate asked. "Just some stuff from my old home in Detroit," Liz answered. "But this is Cold Water!!!! You walked
so far you poor thing Kate screeched. "How about you get some good hard sleep! Ok?" " Ok," Liz said yawning. Kate took her up to the guest room. Liz fell asleep right after she touched the bed, at least Kate thought she did. Liz got up quietly and took a long walk around the house. So Liz wandered around the house because all she saw was a couple rooms, and she was going to be staying there so she wanted to know where everything was. "Wow, a sleepover with Kate! She seems really nice!
I bet she's in bed by now." Liz whispered to herself. To her surprise,
Kate was watching TV in the den. Kate stood up and went to the kitchen
looking suspicious. All Kate wanted was a cup of hot cocoa. Liz noticed that her eyes were getting very droopy, so she decided to get to sleep. In
the morning at about 11:00am Liz heard the doorbell ring. "I wonder who that is?" Liz thought. In about 2 minutes Liz was dressed rushing down the
spiral staircase trying to see who had come to visit. "Hi Cassie," screeched Kate, "how are you?" "Fine." answered Cassie "Well, I have a new
member to this household I would like you to meet. LIZ come down here I want you to meet my friend." Kate hollered. Liz took one step and was in their sight because she had been eavesdropping on their conversation. " Liz
this is my best friend Cassie." "Nice to meet you." Said Liz politely " Nice to meet you too, um. Liz." " Well Cassie since Liz is here she's going to go shopping tomorrow with us."
Said Kate "Oh, good because I promised I would take Claire, my little
cousin!" said Cassie in relief. "WE'RE GOING SHOPPING?" exclaimed Liz " Yeah, we'll go to one of those clothes shops and get you some clothes to last you a week and then we'll try to get some new ones!" "Ok?" Kate asked, " That's great!!" Liz answered excitedly. Liz was so thankful she had been discovered, or else she would have still been out there freezing her cold buns off! Now she felt like hot tamale with all of Kate's Afghans on. "Get to bed Liz." Said Kate "We're having a fun filled day tomorrow just wait,
