Hermione drummed her fingers on the library table. The library was completely silent. Not even a whisper could be heard, nor the turning of pages – just silence. All Hermione could hear outside that was the drumming of her fingers, and even then, that was scarcely audible.

Ron and Harry had left Hermione behind when they had decided to go to practice for Quidditch. Although, it wasn't just leaving her – it was abandonment. They had been sat eating breakfast and before she knew it, the duo had stood up and left. The only way she found out about where they had gone was from Neville.

They had been doing that a lot lately. Just ditching her, without even telling her where they were going, what they were doing or anything else.

Hermione slowly rose from her seat and plucked a random book from the shelf – The Encyclopaedia of Bats Eyes – she had read it before but she saw no harm in reading it again. It would keep her mind away from how she had been abandoned.

After about a minute of silent reading, Hermione peered up from her book when she heard quiet footsteps begin to walk closer. She dismissed it as Madam Pince until she saw who the footsteps belonged to.

'Where the hell is it?' murmured Draco Malfoy as he panned the shelf in which Hermione had just taken The Encyclopaedia of Bats Eyes from. Draco turned around to look at the shelf opposite when Hermione caught his eye.

'Granger' he gasped 'I suppose you're revising for some stupid test are you? Or are you helping Potter get out of trouble?'

'No' Hermione replied 'actually I'm not!'

'Just being a bookworm then, I suppose' Malfoy laughed 'typical mud-blood.'

'Why don't you just go away, Malfoy?' Hermione hissed.

'Listen, bookworm, just 'cause you are the soul user of this dump, it doesn't mean us non-bookworms can't use it once in a while!'

'What could you possibly want in the library?'

'A book' Draco replied 'and I thought you were supposed to be the clever one!'

'Yes!' Hermione said her face turning a pale shade of pink 'what book?'

'None of your mud-blood business!' Draco said, turning away before turning back again 'but you know this library like the back of your hand don't you?'

'No, I'm not helping you, Malfoy!'

'C'mon! I can't ask Madam Pince!' Malfoy said giving her a sly smile.

'What do you want?' Hermione asked.

'I need a book about…' Malfoy said trailing off '…love potions.'

'What?' Hermione said in almost a giggle.

'You heard!' Malfoy said 'and if you tell anyone, I'll bloody kill you!'

'So, who is the lucky girl?' Hermione asked 'do I know her?'

'Doesn't matter' Malfoy said 'it's not for me anyway!'

'Okay' Hermione said, not one bit convinced 'who is this girl or boy that your friend likes then?'

'I can't say!' Malfoy said turning a deeper shade of pink than Hermione's.

'Do I know them?'

'Yes' Malfoy said 'now will you tell me where to find the book and leave me the hell alone?'

'Not until you tell me who you… sorry your "friend" likes!'

'I can't… it will embarrass me… them!'

'You know I think if your "friend" was just nice to this person and wasn't such a jerk then whoever your "friend" liked would, perhaps, like you… sorry, your "friend" back!' Hermione said.

'You think?' Malfoy said in a childish voice which Hermione hadn't heard for a while.

'Yes' Hermione said 'so who is it?'

'You.'
