Here is a short little story that I wrote a while ago, and I hope that you like it. Don't worry, I have not forgotten about my other story.

Shooting Stars

Heero sighed as he woke up from his pain filled dream. He did not want to open his eyes and face life, and maybe, he decided, if he kept his eyes closed everything would go back to being a dream. After several minutes, it became difficult to lay there, and his legs were stiff from lack of movement, so with another loud sigh he fluttered his eyes open. He was lying in a hospital room, everything was boringly white, and the sharp scent that all hospitals seem to have stung his nose. Why am I in a hospital? Was the first thought that ran through his mind, but even that question was answered as he remembered what had happened, the blood stained clothes wrapped around both of his wrists was a sharp reminder. He looked up as the door quietly pushed open, and Duo, his love stood there, his face smeared from hours of tears. His clothes were in disarray, his hair messily tangled and long since fallen from its neat braid...and their was a wariness to his features that Heero feared might never leave.

"Why?" his love questioned. Everyone always asked "why," and that was the last thing he heard in his sleep, everything was always why.

-Several days later-

Heero quietly sat on the balcony connected to his room. He stared longingly at the stars, his eyes glistening with tears. Just recently, he had been released from the hospital, but he had been enrolled in several therapy programs. Today had been the first day of therapy, and at first only silence had resonated loudly through the room. Then he had started talking and he found he could not stop his words as they slipped from his mouth between tears and quiet sobs. So now, he sat there, the stars glittering in his eyes.

He looked up at Duo as he came to sit in the chair beside him.

"The stars are beautiful aren't they?" came his soft base voice after a long moment of silence. Heero looked at him,

"How can everything stay so beautiful?" was his answering question. Duo just looked at him,

"Everything is beautiful, the trick sometimes is seeing it," he replied softly. Again there was quiet as they both looked up into the heavens, then suddenly a shooting star moved through their vision and he found himself smiling.

"Never forget to live," Duo said, "and always learn from what life has to give you, the good and the bad, because you never know when you will miss your chance to live your life to its fullest potential." Then he was gone. Heero watched him leave, entering there shared room and slipping into bed. Then he cast one last glance to the stars and she went inside as well, a small smile settled on his lips, life was so short, merely a shooting star in the fabric of space and time.

"I won't forget," he whispered, then he slipped into bed beside Duo and fell asleep, and even in the grasps of sleep, the smile never left his lips.
