"Love is a cruel master. This lesson has been taught and learned for as long as history records, and yet, man still pursues love. For even though the scars and wounds love leaves upon our hearts linger, the rewards of love are too wonderful to pass up. We seek love because man as a whole is driven by a based instinct to find true companionship in our lives..." Reid sighed as he dropped his latest book back onto his desk, the third as of today. Why did the unsub have to be obsessed with love of all things? Why not something logical? Like numbers. Reid had always had difficulty forming meaningful relationships with anything. Be it his fellow humans, dogs, cats, birds, fish, even frogs seemed to despise him. There were, however, a few exceptions to the "Reid Effect", as all his co-workers called it. His team for example, his mom also loved him, and strangely enough, the stray cat that lived in the alley next to his apartment, Luna. Luna was a strange animal, she purred when he stroked her- instead of clawing his eyes out as all the other cats do- and she loved coffee. However, no matter what he tried, he could not get her to stay in his apartment, and he knew it was only a matter of time before she left. On the day she did finally leave however, she left him a little gift nestled in his Doctor Who scarf. A kitten. Tiny, obviously the runt of the litter, black fur, and bright blue-silver eyes. He smiled and thought, I think I'll call you Stella.
