"Can they be anymore obvious?" Alison DiLaurentis asked Spencer Hastings in a disgusted voice. The sight in front of them made Alison want to puke. Aria Montgomery and Mr. Ezra Fitz talking, more like flirting, with everybody else totally unaware. Spencer nodded her head in reply; she couldn't believe that Ali D. was talking to her. Despite living next to each other, the girls had rarely spoken. Ali had her clique (populars) and Spencer had hers ("geeks/nerds"); the only common thing between them was AP English. Ali saw her shake her head and smiled, maybe sitting next the great-A Spencer could be fun. Besides , Riley was starting to annoy her, and she need someone new, shiny, and easily manipulative. That was what Hefty Hanna was for, her own amusement. No, she needed a challenge, challenger if you will, and Spencer Hastings was prefect.

Spencer could see Alison looking at her through the corner of her eye. She started to worry, was it her clothes, glasses, shoes? Breathe Spencer...breathe, she quietly told herself. Here she was getting noticed by the popular girl and possibly having a panic attack. Only in Roséwood. The bell rang signaling that class has began. Aria Montgomery gave Erza one last smile before turning around to take her sit. She could see Alison looking at her with a disgusted look on her face, what ever happened to them? They used to be two peas in a pod before high school..now nothing. People grow up, Aria. People change, was what Mrs. Montgomery gave Aria when she asked about the noticeable distance. She ignored it and went to her sit, which was next to Emily Fields. Emily gave Aria a small smile when she saw her grimaced face, and went back to her "hobby". Her "hobby", according to Hanna Marin, was pining from a far at Alison DiLaurentis.

Ezra Fitz took a stack of books and began to place them on the students desk. He lingered for a minute at Aria's desk, but quickly left when he saw Ms. DiLaurentis staring at him. Like she know their secret with just a look. She was always watching...

Half an hour later, the dismissal bell rang. Students quickly left, all but four. Aria who needed "help", Spencer who was writing down next week's lesson plans from Mr. Fitz, and Ali who want to talk to the teacher. Spencer flashed flashed Mr. Fitz a smile as she closed her notebook, Aria left realizing that she couldn't be late again to 3rd period, and Ali watched the whole thing. Spencer left with Ali in tow, who decided her talk can wait.

Spencer quickly walked to her locker, only to notice Toby Cavanaugh leaning against it; her heart to beat a mile a minute. So, she may have a crush on him, but what happened next was heart wrenching.

"Why don't you move freak," she heard Alison tell him behind her. The look on his face almost made Spencer want to reach out, but she didn't. Instead, she watched him leave, dropping the chocolates on the floor.

"Sweetie, you could do much better than him. Besides, friends help you from total disasters." Ali said sweetly as she linked her arm with Spencer. This year was going to be so fun..
