Warning: Character death, angst as always...have I covered everything? This contains hints of H/Hr, but it's ultimately Cedric/Hermione.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter isn't mine. It's all Rowling's. The only thing I own is this drabble.
Notes: This goes out to Chrissy. I'm sorry this is so late...hope you like it! And happy belated birthday.

It's hard to move on after his death.
Somehow she does.
-
He reminded her of Harry. Noble, kind, courageous.
To her he was everything pure and beautiful and good in the world.
(Yet - )
She knew that appearances were very deceiving.
Underneath that cheerful facade he wore lay insecurity. He yearned to meet his father's expectations. Yearned even more to make Father proud to call him my son.
His innocence had long been stripped away. Some of it clung to Harry even now.
That was the difference between the two men in her life - he rejoiced in now; Harry didn't even know if he had a future.
-
She often found him quietly studying in the library.
She looked at him until her eyes burned and she had to turn away.
Her soul ached.
-
She didn't go to the Quidditch matches just to watch Harry play.
(She liked really good Quidditch players.)
-
After the War ends, she finds herself adrift, floating in space and time.
She is lost.
(She finds herself later.)
-
He told her once (in a dream) not to forget.
"It's easier to pretend that all the shit life loves to throw at you didn't happen. It's hard just to remember.
"Sooner or later someone with a heart as black as Tom Riddle's will try to take over the world . . and who can destroy him?
"Witnesses. Fighters. People who didn't - couldn't let themselves forget. Who have seen it all before and will make damn sure it doesn't happen again.
"You can't let yourself forget." Don't let anyone die in vain.
She nods slowly as she lets go.
-
She remembers for him.
