First Steps
"That's it, baby! Come to mama, Atae!" Kagome cheered, and offered an encouraging smile to their baby boy.
"No, no, no, Atae, to daddy. Come on, son."
"Inuyasha, you're confusing him!" Kagome said, as Atae looked back and forth between his parents, then finally took one step toward his father.
"That's my boy! Ha! He's smart like his father."
"Or easily distracted like his father," Kagome deadpanned.
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean!"
Kagome only giggled, giving him a brilliant smile, temporarily distracting Inuyasha. Atae then fell back on his bum, irritated the attention was no longer on him. He then cooed loudly, demanding his parent's attention.
Inuyasha raised himself back off the floor, and went to kneel next to his wife. He looked at Kagome, and then back at Atae. "Come here Atae. Come to your parents." Kagome reached over for his hand, and linked the two of them together, and again smiled at her husband, and focused her attention back on the baby.
Atae took one slow step forward, then a quick three, only to catch his balance on his father's lap.
"Atae! Atae, you did it my baby!" Kagome cooed, lifting her baby in her arms. Atae happily cooed. Swelling with pride, he patted his son on his tiny back, "Good job, son."
Inuyasha circled his large arms around his beautiful wife, and leaned forward for a quick kiss. Kagome happily received it, laughing when Atae cooed.
"I love you, wife."
"And I love you, husband." Kagome said, smiling.
