America sat on the kitchen table as he played with his toy soldiers and the large play house Britain had made him. He promised he would be a good boy and not cry when Britain left to his country, but when the time came, he ended up bawling and begging Britain not to go.
The loss of his brother's company was hard at first, but he regained his strength by being able to handle it all. He was still a kid, but he was learning to be more independent and spirited, even if he was a little lonely.
'It's been seven years and he's still not back,' America thought as he kept playing. 'Maybe he'll come back some day.'
However, he put down the toys and began to think about Britain. He always welcomed him in the middle of the night when he had nightmares and let him sleep next to him and comforted him when he was scared. But he was way too dependent on him then. He didn't have nightmares and if he was scared, he sucked it up and smiled mischievously, looking fear in the eye and continuing on as if there was nothing there.
Nevertheless, he found himself missing his brother. "Maybe if I write him a letter, he'll get it and come back."
After all, he was just a kid.
