Author's Note: I'm suddenly obsessed with Nine... This has been floating around in my head for a while, enjoy! In other business, I'm too tired and hot to summon the concentration to write anything long or serious so 'Ghost Music' won't be updated until the weekend. Sorry! But it will be updated then. Please review! :)

Not Five!

The Doctor narrowed his eyes.

Rose stared right back at him, one hand on her right hip, the other tapping the console of the TARDIS rhythmically.

There really was only one way to settle this.

Now they were sitting at opposite ends of the table in the library. The Doctor's brow was furrowed in concentration and Rose had resumed her nervous tapping. A bead of sweat ran down the Doctor's face as he watched Rose pick up the dice.

It was almost over. This one throw would decide everything.

He swallowed as he followed the path of the dice as Rose tossed it into the air.

What side would it land on? Not five, not five, not five…

"Yes! Five!" screamed Rose elatedly and threw her hands in the air.

The small red counter moved easily across the board guided by Rose's delicate fingers. The Doctor looked on, filled with disgust as it slid over the top of the snake's head on space 99 and reached its destination, space 100 with a tiny golden trophy printed on it.

Rose began to head to the control room but he jumped up.

"Best of three?" he suggested hastily; hopefully.

Rose's eyes widened. "No way! Mum's, now!" she said firmly, and strode down the corridor of the TARDIS to the control room.

The Doctor sighed but had no option but to follow. Maybe Snakes and Ladders hadn't been such a good idea…
