(Bella's POV)

My eyes shone with quiet excitement while I waited for Edward to walk into school. I'd missed him so much over the vacation while he hunted and I had to see him soon or I was going to burst. I suddenly spotted the bronze hair and pale skin that was the love of my life. I dropped my books where I stood and ran to him, jumping into his arms.

"Bella!" he cried, surprised but happy. He spun me around a few times and set me on my feet, kissing me softly.

"Sorry," I whispered, wrapping my hand around his. "I missed you. It's hard being away from you for so long."

"It was four days, love," he said, laughing loudly. I pouted.

"The least you could do is say that you missed me to," I mumbled jokingly. He laughed again and planted a kiss on my temple.

"Of course I missed you, silly girl." I smiled and rested my head on his shoulder. He bent down suddenly and picked up my books from where I'd dropped them. I took them and waited patiently while he got his. We walked to class together like always but this time he stopped outside the door.

"What?" I asked when he didn't follow me in. A fierce sneer crossed his face.

"Stupid mutt," he growled. I raised an eyebrow at him. His face suddenly relaxed and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder tighter than I liked. He pulled me through the door. I scanned the room. There he was….Jacob Black, my former best friend, sitting in the back.
