"Hello? Is anyone there?"
The voice catches you off guard, and you stagger backwards. You look around, and spy a turret, with it's laser aimed right at you. You quickly aim your dual portal device at the turret, ready to shoot a portal underneath it in self-defense.
"Please, don't shoot! I'm different." You lower your portal gun, and approach the odd robot carefully. It appears to be normal, just like all the other countless turrets you've destroyed in the past. But why isn't it shooting at you? That's strange.
You reach your hand out to touch the slick, white casing of the turret. You figured that it had just come out of production, because there were no scratches or dents. You cautiously aimed the operational end of the portal gun at the turret. Your first three fingers on the triggers inside of the gun, you carefully pulled one of them. Within seconds, the portal gun's tractor bean activated, lifting the turret into the air in one swift move.
"Thank you." The turret's red light beamed, illuminating the dark corridor. This little guy may be more valuable than you thought. You turn it around so it's light is shining down the pitch-black hallway ahead. This strange turret comes in very handy as a flashlight, so you decide to take it with you as long as you can.
Besides, the extra company is always nice.
