I Must Defend
By morgan wolfson
This is my first attempt at sword art online fanfiction. I dont own it obviously please read and review and hope you enjoy!
Kirito held his new wife, his bride in his arms watching the moonlight dance over her gorgeous features while she slept, I could stay like this and watch her forever , he thought to himself. It had been their wedding night at their quaint home on the 22nd level in Aincrad, and he had no regrets on what had happened earlier that night... some might protest that they were too young but when you are in a deadly game where one mistake could mean certain death both here and in the real world, you had to live life to the fullest.
They were both so different, and yet so perfect together the Black Swordsman and the Lightning Flash partied together they could defeat almost any foe and overcome anything Sword Art Online threw at them. Kirito fought with such unbridled rage such raw emotion with his dual broadswords while his wife used her unmatched speed and quickness of her rapier.
He stroked her forehead, brushing a strand of her chestnut hair behind her ear. Asuna stirred for a momemt he worried he might wake her, but she stopped moving again sighing as she went back into a deep sleep. How lucky can I be to have such a beautiful perfect woman? He thought as he watched her.
His thoughts drifted off to the beginning over a year ago when they all realized they were trapped in this deadly game with no way out but to win. He had left the Town of Beginnings almost immediately after that not to leave anyone behind but because it was now every gamer for themselves, as he and Asuna had found out even real-life married couples were not immune to the game's need for survival and desperation.
The first boss which they took down together...and he abruptly left immediately afterward; it wasnt personal and he hoped she would understand it was about survivial, better to depend on yourself rather than someone else who might let you down or betray you later. His ill-fated joining of the Black Cats guild which still kept him awake some nights. Even so he still did his best to help out other players as best he could.
His mind drifted off to fighting Heathcliff for Asuna's freedom, something still nagged at him from losing that battle however he put it out of his mind for now. He kissed her lips softly, holding her tight as though he was afraid she would disappear if he let her go. Nothing will keep us from making it through to the end to get back to the real world Asuna, I swear it. I wont stop fighting until we are both home and I can do this for real. He kissed her lips again as he drifted off to sleep holding his wife tight.
You are my partner Asuna, I will protect uou with my life if necessary. You are what I must defend. He thought as he drifted off to sleep.
