Theme 1 - Introduction

When Lily Evans first met James Potter, she held a certain resentment toward him. But here she was years later, lying in bed. Seven months pregnant with his baby. A baby that would soon become the most famour and most important child the wizarding world had ever known.

"Can you remember when we first met, James?" Lily asked, turning toward her husband, who was currently sitting at the desk in the corner of their bedroom, writing a letter to his best friend, Sirius Black.

"How could I forget, darling?" he replied, happily. "I remember that day as if it were only yesterday.

"Accio, toilet brush!" screamed James from the first floor corridor, pointing his want toward the girls' bathroom. Suddenly, the bathroom door swung open, a white toilet brush soaring through the gap in the doorway. James turned his want toward Severus, and the brush followed wherever he pointed his wand, shooting toward the boy in the Slytherin robes.

"Reducto!" Severus shouted, pointing his wand at the object that was now no more then three inches away from his face, smiling as he watched it disintegrate into a tiny pile of dust.

"You'll regret that, Snivellus!" yelled James, running toward the boy.

When the two body's collided, there was a loud thump, followed by cheers from James' friends.

"Go on, Prongs! Hit him where it hurts!" Sirius roared.

"Yeah, do it James." Peter said, a little reluctance in his voice.

There was now a crowd gathering around the two boys, who were now throwing punches at eachother. As James lifted his fist in the air, Severus lay on the floow next to him, looking defeated. Suddenly, a high pitched scream came from within the crowd.

"Get off him now, Potter! I'm serious. You leave Severus alone right now, or I'll... I'll jinx you."

The voice belonged to a redheaded girl, who was making her way toward the two of them. At first, James didn't care about her. Then he got a closer look. She was so beautiful. Her hair, a bright orange, shining, as James thought, brighter than the sun itself.

"Did you hear me?" She was now standing in fronr of him, a fierce look on her face, yet she still looked beautiful.

"Yes, I heard you, Evans." he said, looking up into her eyes. They were as green as emeralds. "I'd like to see you try. You wouldn't get very far."

"We'll see about that." She replied, reaching for her wand in her trouser pocket.

"Expelliarmus!" she whispered. Instantly, James' wand flew out of his hand, and landed ont he other side of the crowd.

"It seems to me that I did get far, Potter. You leave him alone now, or you'll have more than a disarming spell coming toward you."

"I'll leave him alone," he sneered, "on one condition."

He looked at her, and as their eyes met, he felt his cheeks flush. "I'll leave him alone, if you go on a date with me. Just one date. I promise that if you still dislike me after that, I will never talk to you or Snivelly again."

"If I must." Lily muttered, looking uncomfortable. "And he's named Severus."

"Who is that letter for?" Lily asked, her voice tinged with interest.

"It's for Padfoot." James smiled at her. "It is a proposition that he take the position as Harry's Godfather.

With that, James rolled up the piec eof parchment, tied a string around it, and passed it to the Owl, who soared toward him, his wings looking beautifully white against the blue walls of the room. The Owl took the letter, and James spoke.

"Take this to Sirius for me, would you, girl?"

With that, the Owl flew out of the open window, the parchment clutched between its feet.
