Breaking Boundaries
"Amazing!"
"It certainly is, isn't it?"
Up upon the Skyarrow Bridge, a young boy with dark blue hair and brown eyes wearing a purple shirt, blue jeans, and gray sneakers was pushing a wheelchair across the pathway for walkers. Seated and fastened in that wheelchair was a teal eyed woman with brown hair tied in a ponytail and held back by an ice blue headband. The girl wore a dark red dress shirt, an off white miniskirt, and white flats on her feet.
"Doesn't the clean air feel great?" the boy asked. "It's good to get out of that damp forest."
"It wasn't my fault the Panpour we saw had Rain Dance as one of its moves," the girl replied while winking.
"Caaara," Jaden whined.
"Take your loss like a man, Jaden," Cara countered. He reluctantly agreed, grumbling a little as he did so.
It wasn't always Luvdisc and Beautifly at first sight for Jaden and Cara. Immediately upon spotting her, Jaden declared Cara to be his rival and challenged her to a battle after getting their Starters, hoping to defeat her easily because she was confined to a wheelchair a year before her journey began.
He lost the first match in Nuvema Town, and the rematch afterward in Route 1. The losing streak continued until when they battled in Striaton City near the Dreamyard.
"Oshawott, use Razor Shell!" the wheelchair user commanded.
Cara's Oshawott charged in, a blue trail coming from its scalchop. It raced in and slashed Jaden's wounded Snivy, knocking it out.
"I give up!" Jaden surrendered while holding his hands up. "You're too strong, Miss, er..." he began, not having gotten her name upon first meeting.
"Cara," Cara introduced with a smile as Jaden picked up his Snivy. "Nice to properly meet you, Jaden."
"Osha-wott!" Oshawott happily greeted as it jumped into Cara's lap.
"Sni," Snivy greeted back with a small smile.
"You must teach me some of your strategies!" Jaden pleaded as he took his hands. "I could learn from someone like you!"
"Well, stick with me, and I'll show you a trick or two," Cara agreed with some nervousness.
The two became closer after the loss, cheering each other on during battles and growing stronger. Jaden was a bit reluctant to take Cara's advice, but when he did listen, it helped in the long run. Her words got his Snivy to evolve into Servine, and it also began falling for Cara's Dewott once it evolved.
Even if she weren't disabled, Jaden would still love her. As much as he didn't want to admit it, he had fallen for her after the first loss.
