O_o Foreshadowing much? Don't know who Hel or Loki are? Look'em up. Mythology = Epic Win.
Hel Isn't Pleased
"You know… I don't think she likes you."
Cloud's voice was a surprise as he was usually very quiet when I was working. I looked up to see him frowning and drawing his eyebrows close together.
"Excuse me?"
"Hel. She doesn't like you. Loki does though."
"Again, Cloud, excuse me?"
"Hel is the Goddess of the Underworld who protects my family. My mom could tell you everything about her ever written. Loki is her father, the God of Chaos. He likes you, but Hel doesn't. It's weird."
Thoroughly distracted now, I put the paperwork down on the desk and steepled my fingers, resting my weight on my elbows. I raised and eyebrow and waited for further explanation. I couldn't tell if it was an actual concern, or if he'd been brainwashed by Zackary into disrupting my work whenever possible. Knowing Cloud, it could be either. Yet the pouty frown was very convincing to the former.
"Hel looks after me and my mother. That's why they gave my family the name Strife. Cause they think we worship evil. But Hel isn't evil, she's just the Goddess of the Underworld, there's a difference. I'm not sure why she doesn't like you. She usually only gets like that around people who hurt me."
"How are you so sure she doesn't like me?"
"Just get the feeling. Mom says I'm connected to them. That I can feel what they feel. Like an ancient or something. I can feel Loki too. He really likes you. I can't explain it."
"Will it be a problem?"
"Not that I can tell. I don't care what they say, I love you anyway."
I smile softly and beckon my young lover closer. He settles into my lap and rests his head against my shoulder. What a strange little thing I have. Goddesses of the Underworld and Gods of Chaos. Absurd.
