Chapter: Unexpected Birthday

Tristan Dugrey lay in bed with sleep still in his eyes. He didn't want to wake up but there was only one thing making him move... Rory Gilmore. He sat up quickly as thoughts of her poured into his head. Her smell, smile, legs, body, and laugh, everything about her consumed his whole being! He was in love. He had fallen hard and was never getting up.

Tristan slinked to the shower, still tired but excited to see her! He pulled off his white shirt and stripped himself of his boxers and crawled into the shower. He let the hot water run down his spine with his head resting against the cool tiles before soaping his body.

Tristan arrived at Chilton on time as usual, making his way through the courtyard he noticed all the girls drooling over his thin muscular body and his dreamy smile. But the only one who didn't look up was the brown haired girl sitting under a tree reading a book. Tristan spotted her immediately and walked confidently over towards her but with each step he drew nearer his confidence faded. She was amazingly beautiful, full of life and totally absorbed in her book.

Rory knew someone was looking at her she could feel it, but she was surprised to look up and find Tristan. "Good morning Mary, Did you miss me over the weekend?" The all to familiar smirk spread across his lips.

"Not the slightest bit" She had hit him hard and he winced knowing she intended the pain. They were like mortal enemies but today of all the days Tristan wanted to change that because it was a special day.

"Happy Birthday Tristan by the way."

"Oh so now you're remembering my birthday you must be thinking about me a lot. did you get me anything?"

"No why would I have better things to spend my money on"

"Well I know what you could get me?!" Tristan thought through his hopes and was starting to reconsider it when Rory finally looked away from her book.

"Well what is it?"

"Your friendship?" Tristan wanted to take it back as soon as it left his mind, yet he was still full of hope.

"Why is that so important.. I mean ummmm. Sure I'll have to think about it?" Rory's face was soon graced with a blush and she became flustered.

Tristan smiled, knowing she wanted it but couldn't sound desperate. He loved how she would panic so much over such little things. "I'll think about it.but I should be going now.... have a good day Tristan." Rory got up abruptly and headed towards the front doors knowing he was watching her every move.

With a huge smile plastered on his lips, he looked down and rested his eyes on his lap and whispered "Oh it will be a better day then you think, Mary."

Classes went by slowly for Rory and even slower for Tristan. He couldn't wait to get out of class and see her smiling face. Soon enough the bell rang, and everybody rushed to their lockers and began planning their weekends. Tristan on the other hand was dreading going home. His parents were out of town, and of course he would spend another birthday alone.
