Derek Sheperd sat at his make-shift kitchen table, a can of beer in front of him, opened, but still completely full. He was trying to wrap his finger around the idea of never seeing Meredith Grey again. She would be gone in the morning. He would never get to see her smile, hear her giggle that lit up her face. The worst part was, she was leaving because of him. She had told him that, tears streaming down her face as she said that she was moving to London. It was his fault. He was the one that needed space. She had wanted the relationship, and he had wanted space. Rain pelted into the trailer's tin roof. It had become monotonous, having a slight rhythm to it. The lights were all turned off, as if to express his dark mood. He sat like this for over an hour, thinking back on times when they had been happy. Before Addison. Before Finn. Those had been the best two months of his life.
Car light's streamed into the window, making him squint at the brightness. He slowly stood up and walked to the door, opening it a crack to see what he had hoped for. She was still in her car, even though it was turned off. He walked down the steps, now standing right in front of the trailer, and not making a move to go further towards her. Finally, she exited her car, wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Her hair was down, flowing over her shoulders. She almost immediately became soaked, and he already was.
They looked each other in the eyes, even though it was dark outside, the only light coming from the moon and the stars above. She shrugged her shoulders, as if not knowing what to say. It took her a while to open her mouth, and when she did, she had to scream to be heard over the loud Seattle rain, "I don't want to go." Tears were flowing down her face, but they blended well with the raindrops that was already there.
"What does that mean?" He had to shout also, even though their distance was not that great.
She took her time before responding, almost questioning what she was going to say, "It means I still love you Derek!" He could tell she was crying now. Her voice wavered and broke with each word that came out of her mouth.
"I still love you too!" He called back to her, hoping it would be enough. Enough to make her stay. Enough for her to keep loving him.
And then everything moved in slow motion, because all he remembered seeing was her drop her keys in the mud, and then she ran. She ran to him, and when their bodies finally met, he lifted her up, her legs wrapping around his torso. Their wet clothes met together and stuck to each other's body, joining them. And they kissed. They had kissed many times, but this was like any other kiss. Her tongue pushed it's way into his mouth. It was a long kiss, and he never wanted it to end, because he knew, in that moment, that Meredith Grey wasn't leaving. She wasn't leaving Seattle, and she most definitely wasn't leaving him.
Sigh That was the result of hopeless romantic me watching the Notebook kiss scene too many times. That was my inspiration. I feel like every girl wants a kiss like that. At least, I do. So that was my oneshot. I would love reviews!
