Lonely was the song I sand

I slowly unlock the door to see my beautiful, stunning lover, sitting waiting for me to arrive. She just smiled that huge grin of hers and ran up and hugged me. Her embrace made me feel like I was invincible. I loved her with everything I had but one half of my heart forced me to break the news to her now.
I had no idea how she would take it but I knew this wasn't going to be pretty.
"Welcome home Nicky" She said as she kissed me lightly. The sparkles in her eyes were glistening so bright; there was no way I was going to put them out.
"I love you" I whispered in her ear. Those 3 words were the only words that could escape my mouth. Those words were so true that she would never understand why I have to do this.

I looked into his eyes as he said those 3 words to me. Something was wrong. His eyes didn't shine as they usually do. His grip around me loosened. My heart began to run full speed ahead and my body couldn't catch up. My hands and feet went numb. My nightmare was coming true. The one I knew I would spend the rest of my life with. The one I loved with my soul didn't love me back.
"You're leaving me?" I barely managed to whisper as my whole body began to shake. I felt like my life was suddenly coming crashing down.
