It Just Might Work

On a stormy day in New York four turtles sat hidden from sight in their underground home. Leonardo, the oldest, was attempting to watch his favourite cartoon about a sponge who lives in a pineapple but the sound of his youngest brother, Michelangelo, irritating Raphael in the kitchen was getting steadily more annoying. Leo glanced over at Donatello. His younger brother was reading a book that would make Leo's head spin because of all those complicated words! But it seemed as if the purple masked turtle was immune to the shouting coming from the kitchen.

Probably because he shares a room with Mikey, Leo thought to himself. As his brothers voice grew even louder – if that was possible! – the blue masked turtle forced himself to stay still. Glancing up at the television screen Leo fully intended to just concentrate on the show… when he realised it had finished! That was when he snapped. As Mikey came racing through the den with Raphael hot on his heels Leonardo leapt out and, to the surprise of his hotheaded brother, tackled his youngest brother to the ground.

Completely shocked Raphael slowly backed up to where Donatello sat, still reading as if nothing remotely odd had happened. As Raphael sat down shakily, Leo continued to pin Mikey to the cold stone floor of the lair and tug the ninjas orange bandana down to cover his mouth. Tearing his eyes away from the sight of his oldest – usually level headed – brother scuffling with his youngest brother on the floor, Raphael glanced at the television and smirked. A commercial for invisible ink was on the screen and an incredible idea began to hatch in the young turtles brain. He turned to Donnie, still reading, beside him.

'Hey Donnie? You know that invisible ink stuff?'

'Yeah what about it?' asked the brainy turtle, at last looking up from his book.

'Do you think it could make Mikey disappear?' Smirking Donatello gazed over to where Leo now had a squirming Mikey pinned by the arms on the floor with the turtle's own orange bandana acting as a gag. Turning back to Raphael the younger turtle smiled and shrugged.

'Worth a shot.'
