Disclaimer: Eustace Clarence Scrubb and Aslan are not results of my imagination. Neither is Narnia.

Dragon.
For so my foul heart made me.
The darkness within
has come forth
and reared its awful head.
Monster.
For such my reflection I see.
My pride, my greed,
my selfish desire
to this sad state had led.

Dragon.
For as such I am perceived.
A terrible result:
my wrongful nature
bared on gold-and-diamond bed.
Fallen.
A scaly hide has weaved
a shell unbearable,
spawn of my dark heart.
I saw the truth and fled.

Dragon.
For so I am to them.
My words are as fire,
my deeds as a bite;
wounds which have bled.
Fiery.
And so I brood in my den.
For what use am I,
a monster to all:
a fate I so dread.

Dragon.
This creature estranged.
I have been wrong:
I know I'm guilty.
I'm useless, good as dead.
Broken.
For now I wish for change.
But now I see Him,
walking toward me.
He took me to a pool and said,

"Dragon.
For such you've grown to be.
Undress first,
step in the pool,
wash away your heart of lead."
Longing.
For so I desire the stream.
I scratch the scales,
I peel the skin
and soon a layer shed.

Dragon.
For still such is my form.
"You must let Me
remove your skin."
My dragon-problem waxes sore.
Desperate.
For still I wish to reform.
I lie wide open
to His great claws:
His help is all I hope for.

Dragon.
This scaly skin I disdain.
He takes His claws
and drives them deep
to my heart, my very core.
Open.
For so I must remain.
The pain is great,
but it comes off
and gone: my skin is torn.

Dragon.
But now in His paws.
Into that water
is where I go,
into pleasure unfelt before.
At peace.
I'm soothed from His claws.
My throbbing heart
calms in cleansing.
He calls and I come to shore.

Restored.
For so I see I'm new.
He dresses me
in new raiment
such as I've never worn.
Released.
My old self subdued.
I am free
from what I was,
the skin I so abhorred.

Restored.
For His work shines through.
My Liberator
draws me close
and speaks words I so adore.
"Transformed.
From yourself I drew you.
I've changed your heart,
I'm with you; go:
a dragon no more."
