Summary: When a girl is use to getting what she wants, sometimes walking away is the best way to get it.
Spoilers: Bad Blood
Sequel/Season: Season one
Authors Note: I don't own them, Scifi does. I'm just borrowing them for while and promise to give them back when I'm done, though I might just keep Harry and Bob little longer ;-)
Okay, this is just a little experimentation with first person POV. There's something about this series...probably having read a few of the books...that just lends to writing in first person.

Walking away.
That's not something I usual do, but this time, this person...
Harry Dresden.
Out of all the people that walk though his door looking for help, I was the last one he was expecting to see standing there on his threshold looking for help. But, there I had been a few hours ago. Of course, there were hundreds of places in this windy city I could have gone to hide, but hiding isn't something I normally do. From the sun, yes, from the police, maybe, but from trouble, no.
But what's a girl to do when the High Council's hit men show up, trying to kill her? There really isn't someone else to you can appeal to when the High Council is after you...or you think the High Council is after you and there really isn't any one else who quite understands that than, dear, sweet Harry.
Too bad it was Natalie. She had been fun, right up until she double crossed and betrayed me, but then again, she had learned from the best.
It would have been so much simpler had it just been Jake, but since when is life...or death for that matter, simple?
But Harry had been just far too cute with his wizard staff of a hockey stick in one hand and crossbow in the other all "knight in shining armor protecting the damsel in distress". Though, he was in much more distress than myself in the situation, but still, it was cute. I have to admit I am very glad he was wearing Arvin's kevlar vest when those crossbow bolts hit him in the back. He did have the most colorful bruises on his back from that though and he does have the most luscious back.
Too bad.
He could have taken Natalie's place, but then, he wouldn't be Harry Dresden any more. He's much more useful as a wizard than as a vampire...for now.
So for now, I just walked away, but next time.
Next time, we'll see just who will be the one to walk away.
