A trip to the moon.
Sybil rushed around the nursery, finding pillows, blankets and other necessities. She had to remember to stock up on food later, after all no trip to a faraway place would be complete without basics such as cumber sandwiches.
She was just about to start packing clothes into her suitcase when Mary stormed in, slamming the door on its hinges.
"What are you doing Sybil?"
"I'm going to a far away place, do you want too come?"
Mary rolled her eyes, Sybil was 6 and so easily entertained her on the other hand was 11 and quite old enough too not engage in such silly childhood fantasies. But she loved Sybil and wasn't about to hurt her feelings.
"That would be lovely Sybil, where are we going to go?'
"I was thinking Australia or America, somewhere really exotic but warm"
"Sybil sweetheart I don't think America would be that warm, and you shouldn't go too Australia with all those dirty convicts there"
Mary didn't really know what lay in Australia or America, she was only repeating snippets she had heard in town or downstairs but she wanted to appear smart to her little sister and repeating the information made her feel quite worldly. She noticed Sybil packing clothes and stood up to help her. For a while all that could be heard in the nursery was Mary dictating Sybil, how she couldn't possibly wear that dress or wouldn't that coat be much warmer than the other.
"There we go darling I think we are packed and ready, now have you got the tickets?"
"Mrs. Hughes has them"
"Oh she does, does she, and when did you organize that with her?"
"This morning"
Mary remembered that Sybil had spent the morning downstairs and had been wondering what she was up too, she supposed Sybil and been sharing her many ideas about travelling with the poor house keeper. Mary wondered how accepting Mrs. Hughes had been of them.
"Shall we go downstairs then Sybil and pick them up on the way? We could also get that food if you like."
Sybil grabbed her hand and taking the packed suitcase lead her down the stairs, they were going to travel to many places and she couldn't wait to spend them with her favorite big sister.
"Mary, we shall go to the farthest place"
"Oh yes Sybil? And where's that"
"The moon and we shall live there until we are quite old."
