"Stop!" Abby shrieks running towards a child whom looked to be no more than six in age. The child jumps at the unexpected voice and dumps out the murky liquid cupped in his small hands.
"What?" Asked in unsteady English. Abby wonders if he will be able to understand the explanation that needed to be given.
"It'll make you sick." She lets out a dramatic moan and clenches her midsection. The boy from Trikru just stares at her.
"Thirsty." Not a question but a statement as he moves towards the stream once more. With the majority of his people telling him not to trust Skaikru Abby is surprised she got that far with him. As a doctor and more importantly as a mother she couldn't allow him despite his thirst. She gently puts a hand of his shoulder pulling him away. He violently jerks away and yells out in his more comfortable tongue. It doesn't take long for him to be heard. Abby's heart begins to pound as three easily twice her side approach. Starting at her as if the enemy.
"Skaikru isn't welcome here!" One spits out. There was a treaty in place but little respect. Abby was in violation of the terms being at this location. She sighs, forces a smile, holding both hands as a sign of peace.
"The water isn't safe. It's polluted. You can't just drink it straight from the source." They just stare at her.
"We need to drink." One says with a snear. Abby nods.
"Of course. We all do. But there are ways to make it safer. The easiest way is to gather some up and have it boiled. And once it cools down it'll be safe to drink."
"This is a trick from Skaikru! Water has never hurt us!"
"It's not a trick. I swear. Please I am begging you don't drink directly from the stream." She wants to explain in more detail what could happen, what she had already seen a few times in Arkadia before they realized the cause. She knew her audience was unwilling to listen; at least not yet. All she could do was give a tiny nod before turning back the direction she had been before stumbling upon the child.
Abby scream internally as she hears them return to the water and do the exact thing she warned them against. Already planning to have a talk with Marcus and see if he could Indra to help them out before there was an epidemic on their hands.
