Summary: Liu Bei complains about his height. Slight SSX/Liu Bei, OOCness. Not owned by me! 8)
Everyone knew that something was bothering Liu Bei. But they didn't know what. He was depressed all morning about whatever it was. They didn't want him to be like this, so some of his officers caught up to him. It was a fine day in Shu, a bit slow, and sunny. The rays of sunshine shone beautifully on the flowers of the peach garden. Liu Bei turned when he heard his name being called.
"Brother, what is bothering you?" Guan Yu asked.
Liu Bei sighed dejectedly. He crossed his arms and looked up so that he was looking his brother in the eye. Then he said it:
"My height."
A moment of silence passed through as the others processed this. "Your height, my lord?" Zhao Yun blinked confusedly.
"Look at me Zhao Yun," Liu Bei went up to him. Indeed, he was shorter. "You're the LITTLE Dragon. I'm shorter than the LITTLE Dragon. I have to look up to meet my brother's eyes. The only person I'm taller than is Pang Tong, and he's hunched over! God forbid I'm at least taller than the Sleeping Dragon or something!" he threw his hands up in exasperation, "I mean, it's not wonder I'm made fun of!"
Ma Chao looked to Zhao Yun, who looked to Zhang Fei, who looked to Guan Yu. Awkwardly, they all bent their knees so that they were slightly shorter than their lord, who face-palmed. "Oh you don't have to do that! My ego's taken a big enough punch already!"
Once the officers drew back up to their original height, a light tap went onto Liu Bei's shoulder. He turned and saw Shang Xiang.
"I'm shorter than you my lord," she commented, looking up at him.
Liu Bei patted her shoulder, "Thank you, but meaning no offense my lady, to know that I'm taller than one woman is not very helpful right now. Again, thanks for trying."
Shang Xiang shrugged.
"What about Cao Cao? He's pretty tiny," Zhang Fei put in.
"Nope. Shorter than him." Liu Bei shook his head.
"Lu Xun?" Zhao Yun suggested.
"About the same height as him."
"Uh…what about the generics?" Ma Chao asked.
"Nope. About the same height with them too."
"Soldiers?" Guan Yu stroked his beard in thought.
"Same height."
Another silence. The officers finally gave up and went away. There was no helping this sad, sad short man with big elephant ears. Liu Bei walked on, cursing his 5'8" height.
