On The Road

After Allegiant, Tris isn't dead. She's in the bureau, but manages to escape. She doesn't want to go back to Chicago, where her friends could get harmed. So, she turns away to the rest of the USA, and begins a long journey... Rated T because I'm paranoid, and it's divergent. This is my first published fanfic. Flames will be ignored. Constructive criticisms will be read. Complete.

1. Prologue

On the Road: An After- Allegiant story and alternate ending.

Prologue

Tris

And my mother walking out from behind him.

"Am I done yet?"

"No, my dear child. We will meet again soon. You have to live."

I hug her, my eyes blurred from tears; my body streaked with blood and I feel myself fall into blackness.

I wake up in a cold grey cell. There is a private bathroom, a mattress and a slot in my cell door,but not much else.

"Hello, Tris."

"David." I growl, all the while confused, because he wasn't supposed to know I existed. Did the plan work?

"Your little scheme set me back a bit, and I believe you owe me some testing. Your little… friends shouldn't be a problem, because they believe you are dead."

"Sadistic monster!"

"You shouldn't call me that."

He goes away, and for a moment I think that it is over, that I can plan my escape in secret.

But oh, boy, was I wrong.

He comes back with a brown leather belt.

"This will teach you to keep your stupid mouth shut!"

He raises the belt high above his head…
