Disclaimer: Nothing is mine. The idea for this came when, out of boredom/curiousity, I did a little google search for Ookami Kakushi under its hiragana and I came across a Japanese blog page for episode eleven of the anime. The author (from what I could translate) noted that when Kaori passed by the camera in the river, her eyes were moving as though something (or someone) was moving right by her. Coupled with the fact that Sakaki is nowhere to be seen, I think we can safely deduce what she saw.

(Not counting the disclaimer, this drabble is exactly 100 words)

The moment the watery curtain closes over her head, she is prepared for death.

What did she have to live for? If she wasn't sick, she would continue to teach sweet Mana about the joys of the violin, and be content with just her music for the rest of her life.

But some things could never be.

She opens her eyes and tilts her head. He is no longer in her embrace, but he is by her side, somehow still alive.

And briefly, his eyes meet hers. He gives her one last bittersweet smile and silently, they both say:

"Farewell."
