First wishes, last bets
James Potter walked through the stone barrier between platforms 9 and 10 for the first time in his life. There he entered the wizarding world from Platform 9 ¾. Everything he saw surprised him. There were hooting owls, cats mewing and frogs leaping over the station and through all of this people were walking, parents, children carrying trunks. James hurried to get his stuff on the train too and then went back to the platform to say goodbye to his parents. He promised to be a good boy and to write home occasionally and come home for Christmas. When he went back on the train again, he saw her for the first time. A girl with beautiful long red hair, big green eyes and a smile that seemed to enlighten everyone near her.
His thoughts were rudely disturbed by a boy, who nearly knocked him over.
'Watch it will you,' he said angrily.
'Sorry mate, promise to not do it again. Can I keep you company to repay you?' replied the black-haired boy who was grinning to him.
James couldn't help grinning too. 'Sure, what's your name?' he asked.
'Sirius, Sirius Black,' the boy answered.
'Cool Sirius, I'm James Potter.'
They both walked back to the compartment where James had dropped his trunk. On their way, they passed the eleven-year-old red-haired girl. James felt himself get weak around the knees, but forced himself to keep on walking. Once in the compartment and all settled, Sirius looked in James' eyes.
'You like her, don't you?' Sirius said.
'Who?' James said quickly.
'The red one, Lily Evans,' Sirius said, once more grinning.
'You know her?' James asked eagerly.
'No, but certainly seem to get to know her,' he said, trying hard not to laugh.
James decided it was best to not reply and stared out of the window. Forests were now passing by very fast. Sirius was right; he did want to know Lily a bit more then he did now. That moment, he decided that he would not rest until he went out with her at least once.
'You know Sirius, you're right, I would like to know her and I bet I will know her quite soon,' James said grinning to Sirius.
'I'll keep you to that, James; I'll keep you to that.'
