Author's Note: I came up with this poem after watching Alice in Wonderland and listening to the rain outside. Set prior to the events of the film, Alice makes her observations of London on a rainy day. All questions, comments, constructive criticism, and/or suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Disclaimer: I own nothing from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. I just like to write. ^_^

London Grey
By Kuroneko

Raindrops pelting on the carriage roof,
A gentle lullaby that threatens yet calms
A crack of lightning breaks the mood
And the light fades to grey once again

All around me is a city of grey –
No colors to be found
The city of London on a rainy day
I think see a few, but then…

No colors seep in this rainy town
The rain blanches them and washes them away
Slowly I watch as the myriad flow down
All the life swept away from them

Grey people walk under umbrellas of black
And the rain seeps into their fashioned shoes
They continue on and don't look back
As if to ignore the downpour upon them

If only one color could just touch them
Alight and takes wing on its own
Dye their clothing from top hat to collar to hem
And bring London to life once again

But the purest of colors show only in dreams
All vivid and brilliant to my eyes
But the subconscious is not as reality seems
And all I can wonder is when

When will this city become fresh and new
And no longer shall London be grey?
Will people succumb before the colors renew?
Will the colors intervene before then?
