Well, I am still not done with the next chapter, but I was thinking about something while I was playing my Pokemon, Blue Mystery Dungeon game; what happened in between a few events in the game? So, I wrote this small one-shot-ish story about when the two Pokemon were on the run as fugitives. It is very short.
I do not own Pokemon, but I do own Astri and Akirudo's names.
After Mt. Blaze, you would see a long, dense wood forest before reaching the Frosty Forest. It was very quiet on the dark pathway; the only sound was of Hoothoot and other nocturnal Pokemon…and someone lightly snoring. If you tried to find the source of the sound, it would lead you to a hollow tree with a hole in front of it. Turns out the sound was escaping through the hole in the dirt.
It was a very tiring day for the duo, Astri and Akirudo. That morning they just defeated the mighty bird of fire, Moltres. To add on to the tiring battle, Akirudo almost collapsed on the way down to the forest, but got up quickly to keep moving. Slowing down could cost them their life.
When late night fell, the two decided to try to get some rest. With some hard work, they managed to hollow out part of a tree to hide in. Akirudo was now sleeping, but Astri was still awake, thinking.
'It's been a while since I turned into a Torchic.
I wonder how my family is doing without me…'
She tried to think back to get a memory of being a human, but she could only recall a face she couldn't recognize.
Astri looked at the snoring Totodile next to her and watched him for a few seconds.
'I'm glad Akirudo came with me, but what's going to happen if we get caught? They said if he goes with me, they will not spare him either.'
Looking at the hole in the ground, Astri sighed. If she went ahead without Akirudo, he might not be able to make it.
'I guess it's for the best then…at least for now, if we go together.'
Astri did ask Akirudo why he came along with her. He could have just stayed behind and stayed safe. He just looked at her with a confused look and said,
"Because I'm your best friend, of course! I thought you knew that."
But best friends can still betray you. A title of a friend means nothing without knowing it's true.
Sleep started to take over, and then Astri just closed her eyes with a final thought.
'I guess true friends count more. I'm glad I have one…"
