Disclaimer: I don't own DBZ, and I confess to borrowing the witty dialogue. All else is mine.

She wasn't sure when it started. He was the enemy. A cold blooded killer who showed no remorse – far from, he laughed over his actions. The first time she'd known of him, he'd come to Earth with the intent to steal one of its greatest treasures, the dragonballs, and ended up killing some of her best friends in the fight to defend them and the planet. It wasn't then.

The second time was the first time she'd actually seen him face to face, again after the dragonballs, this time on Planet Namek. She'd had one and he'd come after her with those obsidian eyes burning into her, like a physical touch, even that attesting that he was someone to be feared. It still wasn't then.

But perhaps the third time was the charm. They were back on Earth, and while he still scared her at first, slowly, slowly, without her noticing, the fear evened out. And perhaps it was the part of her that thrilled at danger, but she found herself watching him even as she talked to the others and invited the Namekians to her home. And first time, she saw him. A man with no one but himself. Lonely. Lost.

She turned to find him, hands on her hips, and flashed him a grin. "What about you? Hey homeboy!"

He was leaning against a tree, had been staring off at nothing, but his dark gaze snapped up and she delighted in the flash of confusion and surprise at her address. "What? 'Homeboy'?"

"Hey, loosen up! You're going to need a place to crash too!"

"Hmph!"

"Hey, why don't you drop the arrogant tough guy act and relax, let it all go – take a vacation, for goodness sakes! Unwind a little and see what life has to offer you." She grinned then, looking him over. He was wide eyed in surprise, looking nothing like his usual intimidating self, and she had to laugh. "You're actually kind of cute."

This was my first story, so I hope you enjoyed it. Remember, reviews are always appreciated!
