Play Minstrel Play

Song- "Play, Minstrel, Play" – By: Blackmore's Night

Underneath the harvest moon
Where the ancient shadows will play and hide...
With a ghostly tune and the devil's pride...
"Stranger" whispered all the town
Has he come to save us from Satan's hand?
Leading them away to a foreign land...

That night underneath the moon's light that lead lost travelers through the dark's eerie secrets, he appeared. He wore a bright smile while carrying a heavy past full of shadows that liked to play and hide.

At first he was just a stranger. But there was an air about him that gave a friendly warm feeling. That we had warmed up to. He had been prophesied as 'The Destroyer of Time'. But we ignored the meaning of it.

We thought maybe with him the ongoing war will finally end. And he would lead us to a peaceful era, something that was very foreign to us.

Play for me, minstrel, play
And take away our sorrows...
Play for me, minstrel, play
And we'll follow...
Hear, listen, can you hear,
The haunting melody surrounding you,
Weaving a magic spell all around you...
Weaving a magic spell all around you...

That day when he played that melody we were joyous. That he had saved us from a cruel death. The song was peacefully that for a moment it took away our sorrows and troubles.

He was a almost like a leader among us, that we would follow everywhere. He was a precious friend and companion that we would follow to the ends of the earth.

But something changed after that day. We couldn't tell but the song was a haunting melody from his past. Something that he thought was just a game, that would have never became so important in his future.

Danger hidden in his eyes,
We should have seen it from far away,
Wearing such a thin disguise in the light of day...
He held the answer to our prayers,
Yet it was too good to be...
Proof before our eyes, yet we could not see...

Day by day he was changing, ever since he been accused as an enemy. We should have seen it coming. But who would of thought that a friendly boy such as him, could ever be the enemy?

Before we couldn't see it, but now we could. He wore a thin disguise that we all wonder, how could we have not seen it? We had so many hopes for him that had just shattered into thin air, with the name '14th'.

Nothing was ever true, there was always a catch to it. If only we could have seen the proof, then nothing like this would have ever happened. And the enemy would have never been let into our ranks.

The melody was sorrowful now, full of the pain he has felt in the past and present and maybe even the future. For all of his comrades has left him in his time of need. But for now has he played the melody he let his sorrows and troubles fade away, and let it lead him to the peace we once hoped for.

Play for me, minstrel, play
And take away our sorrows...
Play for me, minstrel, play
And we'll follow...
Hear, listen, can you hear,
The haunting melody surrounding you,
Weaving a magic spell all around you...
Weaving a magic spell all around you...

A/N: Hoped you enjoyed! I'm just feeling a little down today and all. I've been sick lately. I just really felt liking writing a fic about Allen while listening to this song. Blackmore's Night is a really great group. Their songs are more of a Renaissance type genre but it really fits since Halloween is coming up. I would recommend listening to this song while reading, if you want to that is. Well have a great day! Read and Review!
