Traveling to the Past

I remember the day she left.

I go back to that day often, even though when I do it fills me with so much pain. I remember what she was wearing, how she looked, and how she smelled. She always smelled like vanilla. She was wearing her favorite red dress; strapless and it also had some sparkles on it.

We were at the park one Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful day with the sun out a slight breeze and the birds chirping happily.

We were having a picnic because it was the last day before school started.

After we went back to my house for a sleepover, she said,

"Ken, why don't we go sneak to Noah's house and look at him changing- or in the shower!"

"Nat, I don't think that's a good idea my parents would kill me if they knew we went and did that." I said.

"Take a chance Ken! I mean you never do anything bad and you're in high school- It's supposed to be the time of our lives! Please?"

She said please like it had a million letters in it.

"Nat, I" She cut me off there.

She said please again like it had a trillion letters in it this time.

"Fine. But just a peek." I said

"Yay. Let's go" Natalie said

Noah lived across the street which meant we had to cross the street. It was dark and no cars were on sight. Being herself Natalie ran straight into the middle of the road without looking.

Then-It happened.

A car came out of nowhere and hit Natalie and didn't even stop.

"Natalie!" I screamed and ran to her.

I didn't feel her pulse or anything.

"Natalie, are you okay? Natalie!" I kept screaming over and over again .

"Anybody! Help!"

Nothing.

Not knowing what to do I pulled Natalie out of the road back to my house.

"Mom! Dad! Help!" I said

"Mackenzie what's wrong dear?" Said my mom who soon came in after my dad.

"It's Natalie." I said

"What about Natalie? Where is she" my dad said.

"She- She-She's dead!" I pushed my self to say.

"What?" My parents said in unison. "Where is she."

" I left her out on the porch. Come on." I said

We all ran out to the porch and…

She was gone.
