Neville had just started walking up to the Quidditch field for the Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor match. He was just minding his own business when he heard small snippets of student giggling and walking quickly past him. Oh no! Is there something on my back? Oh please don't tell me Fred and George have put another kick me sign on my back with a fastening charm again! That took hours to get off! He thought. Then, "Hello Neville." A soft, dreamy voice said behind him. He turned around and stared. Luna Lovegood was standing there in a dress that came down to her ankles with a 2ft train behind it. But the odd thing was, it was covered in raven feathers. The sleeves also came down to her palms and got longer about at her elbows, to look like wings. She also donned earrings made of a single black feather for each ear, and a necklace made of what else? Raven claws. Her hair was crimped and fell down over her shoulders. Her piercing blue eyes looked like pieces of the sky against a ravens wings. "Um, hi Luna. I… I like your dress." She stared, unblinking. "Really? Because everyone else thought it was quite amusing. That's why they were laughing back there." She sounded almost sad when she said this, but her dreamy expression didn't change. "No really, I think it's…. beautiful on you." Her eyes widened as she stared at him. "Wow…. I… well, thank you Neville. That's very kind of you to say." "I mean it though!" He blurted. Did I really just say that? Well, I was thinking it the whole time, I mean, I've always thought she was beautiful, I just… didn't want to tell HER that yet! Well, now what? I can't take it back! They stood there for a few moments, him thinking of what to say next, her lost in thought. Finally, she thought, I've been waiting for so long. I was going to admit it to him soon… but then that problem with the nargles… and I'm just not brave enough to admit it…. Oh but he really thinks I'm beautiful! Oh Neville! Finally! She took a step towards him. "Thank you Neville. It… it means a lot to hear you say that. I really don't hear that very often, usually from anyone but my father." She took another step towards him. "No problem. I… I really mean it though…" He took a step towards her. Now they were just half a foot away from each other. Neville kept babbling on, not knowing where this was going. "I mean, you always have all these pretty interesting outfits, and you have such a great point of view on everything and-"She leaned in, and kissed him on the lips. She grabbed his hands as she did this, and held them in her own. "I know Neville, I feel the same way." She said, pulling away slightly. She then let go of his hands, and walked towards the field without another word. Neville just stood there, dazed. Then, when he glanced behind him and saw she was gone, he leapt up into the air and pumped his fist out in front of him, mouthing YESSS! silently. He then walked down to the field, smiling as he went, daydreaming of ravens and nargles, whatever they were.
