The unopened envelope lay on the kitchen table top. All he could do was staring at it. The memories of his childhood in Ireland came running through his head as he thought about how is brother would react to the news. How was he going to tell him? How do you break the news to your brother, that the love of his life, the mother of his child, was getting remarried...to his best friend?

"Connor! What the fuck! You used all the fucking hot water" Murphy bellowed as he made his way through the hallway and into the small kitchen. He gazed over at his brother and noticed the stillness.

"Oi...Ugly... What the fuck is wrong with...Isn't that Erin's writing?" Murphy snatched the envelope up off the table quickly and held it in his hand, moving it from his left hand to his right hand and back again. What did Erin want? He had hardly heard from her in the past six months and even those had only been quick handing over of the phone so he could speak to his son. What was so important that she felt she had to write?

"Murph..." He pulled his eyes away from the envelope and gazed up into his brothers understanding eyes. Connor knew what was going on.

"Just tell me... Please I'd rather hear it from you..." He pleaded needing to hear what he knew was going to be bad news from the one person he could trust above all others.

"She's getting married Murph...To Gerry."
