"Eugene? Where are you?"
Rapunzel whirled around to find her handsome beau standing only a foot behind her. She took off her blindfold and smirked at him,
"You know, I'm starting to believe you're doing this to scare me".
"Me? Try and scare you? Oh, no Blondie! You've got it all wrong." Flynn replied, smirking at her sarcastically.
Rapunzel flopped herself onto their bed with a sigh. Flynn mirrored her exact actions, which made her laugh.
"I just don't see what the point of all this is", she said as she wrinkled her nose and handed him the blindfold.
"It's supposed to strengthen our relationship. It's a trust exercise or something", he said with a shrug.
Rapunzel laughed at him, "Well, I don't see how blindfolding me and walking me into things is going to make this relationship any stronger".
Eugene grabbed her hands and stared deep into her big, green eyes for a moment. He then said, "You don't trust me, do you?"
Rapunzel sat there for a few moments, awestruck and, at the same time, angry that he could ever accuse her of such a thing.
"Of course I trust you, Eugene. I love you", she said.
"Then why won't you marry me?" he asked for the thousandth time. She didn't answer for a while. "You think I'll leave, don't you?" he pressed. Rapunzel looked up at him, her deep, green eyes filling with tears, and said, "I don't know what I'd do without you… And it scares me." She paused, thinking. "And… I think that's why I won't marry you."
Eugene pressed his forehead to her's and kissed her nose. He held her close and sat her on his lap. They stayed like this for a while, blissfully enjoying the silence. Until, at last, he whispered in her ear, "You're just going to have to believe that we can last."
Then, Eugene placed Rapunzel on the bed beside him and got down on one knee. He pulled out a golden ring with three pink and purple, twinkling diamonds in its center.
"Trust me, Rapunzel."
