This actually was a character study I was doing for a much larger fanfiction that I have in progress. There is so much to Jan and Hank that we don't get to see, so much of their relationship that's not shown. Because of this I've been writing little pieces to try and 'test the waters', so-to-speak, in order to keep them as dynamic and in character as possible. Also an important note is that I'm basing this character exploration solely on how they are portrayed in Earth's Mightiest Heroes; I have no knowledge of how these characters are in the comics.

Review please. Feedback is super, super important to me, especially with this being an attempt to keep these wonderful Avengers as in character as possible.

Also, I own nothing.

"And so then Steve said…" Janet Van Dyne, better known as the Wasp, trailed off. The other end of her conversation, Hank Pym, sometimes known to the public as Ant-Man, was not listening to her. This didn't surprise her very much- Hank normally poured over his projects and experiments with an intense focus. Today was no different as he hunched over his microscope, studying some kind of ant genome. If it were anyone else Jan would be bothered by the fact that her musings fell on deaf ears. But this was Hank. It was enough just to spend some time with him, to be around him. Sure, it would be nicer if he would stop and listen to her for a change, but with the Avengers they had less and less time alone and with Hank she was willing to take what she could get-for now.

She had to admit that she liked to watch him work sometimes, like she was doing now. It was like she could almost see him thinking. Jan knew the way his brow would furrow when he was concentrating, his warm brown eyes narrowing. His lips would twitch upwards when he came to a realization, eyes sparkling at his discovery. If he was frustrated his nose would twitch slightly, and she knew that he was getting nowhere when he took the time to push a stray piece of sandy brown-blonde hair out of his eyes. Over the years she had noticed all of these things about him, and she had come to love them.

"What did Steve say, Jan?" Hank asked, looking up from the microscope. Jan blinked in surprise, startled out of her observation.

"Oh, sorry," she replied, laughing a little at herself. "Steve said that there was no way that the pizza place was as good as I said it was, but I got them to order it anyways. You know, Hank, you should really join us in the mansion some more. It's good to be around the team, around friends. Although I know I probably can't drag you out of the lab." This sentence she finished with a sigh, noticing that Hank was already focused on his microscope again.

"This work I'm doing is important," Hank told her. Jan opened her mouth to reply, but was cut off by the rest of his sentence. "But I supposed I could come a little more often."

"Really? Hank, that would be great!" Jan replied, smiling widely.

"Well, only if I get some of this famed pizza," he said, smiling slightly. Jan laughed.

"I'll tell you what," she bargained, "if it will get you out of here, you can have as much as you want."
