Tidus panted and sweated as he leveled his sword toward Golbez, gritting his teeth in frustration but refusing to surrender. The two of them had been battling for nearly an hour on the Lunar Subterrane, but Tidus's strength was waning. being Cecil's brother, he sure was a stubborn pain in the-
The appearance of something blue and brilliantly shining brought Tidus's train of thought grinding to a halt. It was his savior, his redeeming light: an Ex-Core!
Unfortunately, Golbez spotted it too, and he was also awfully closer to the core...
It would be a race for victory! At least, Tidus thought it would be some epic competition...but Golbez just did the practical thing and teleported straight to it, and Tidus just felt doom descend upon him. So what could Golbez's Ex-Burst possibly be?
He didn't have to wait to find out. Instantly, an aura of light engulfed the area, and as it dimmed Tidus noticed the appearances of five new figures. Tidus briefly recalled Cecil mentioning Golbez's old henchmen called the Four Elemental Archfiends, but...wait, was that Cecil among them?
A smelly zombie-like creature with glowing eyes and a hunchback stepped forward (Tidus thought his named was Scarmiglione) and cried, "Earth!" He punched his fist up and towards Golbez.
Another figure by the name of Rubicante, this one standing tall and showing his leg like a prowler in the corners of Zanarkand's streets, also aimed his fist in that general direction. "Fire!"
This time a voluptuous woman with wild and lengthy blond hair (Oh, that had to be Barbaricca) did likewise and exclaimed, "Wind!"
Although Tidus wanted to call the last one Squirtle due to his blue turtle body, he knew its name to be Cagnazzo. "Water!"
"CECIL, YOU TRAITOR, I COULD DIE!" Tidus screamed at someone he had previously considered one of his two closest allies in the war.
All that meant nothing to Cecil in the face of being programmed by the Squeenix staff into Golbez's Ex-Burst. It was just in the coding and the bromance between them! "heart!" He chimed in, secretly bemoaning how he got stuck with the girliest element when he was already the most feminine-looking member of the entourage, Barbaricca included.
"By your powers combined..." Golbez declared as he transformed from hisawesomely armored self into a blue-skinned guy with green hair and spandex. "I AM CAPTAIN PLANET!"
Struck speechless, all Tidus could yell was, "I GIVE UP!" as he walked away from the absurd pop culture reference.
