TrickyFrog wrote this sweet Alice/Oz -shot which, although a friendship fic, inspired me greatly.
I do not own Pandora Hearts, although that'd be pretty cool.
"What's marriage?" an unusually quiet voice asked, a curious look on the face of the speaker. As if she didn't really feel she should be embarrassed to not know the answer, but as if she really thought it was an intelligent question.
"Hmm?" Oz turned his head, wondering what had prompted the question. He saw Alice staring out the window with that strange look on her face... A very foreign look."It's... supposed to be happy." Oz answered, screwing his face up in concentration, trying to find the right words. "It's when a man and a woman, who love each other, live together and have children."
"Love? What's that? Sharon mentioned it too..." There was definitely something strange about the chain! She was calm, not miffed that there were so many things she didn't understand, when her manservant (the idiot) obviously did!
"Uh... It's a... warm feeling! And fluffy, sort of like a small bunny or a puppy. It-" Oz stopped when Alice raised a hand, that strange look still in place.
"Back to marriage." she prompted, a distant look on her face.
"Okay... Well, uh... It's a little hard to explain..." Oz scratched his scalp and tilted his head. "They have children... And then they live together, sleep in the same bed, and... They've made a contract of sorts, which ends in a... Kiss..."
"Are we married, then?"
"Wha-? Nononononononononononononono! No!" Was the worst thing that he almost actually wanted that to be the case? "W-well, I can see the resemblance, but no." he said, sweat dropping.
Alice looked up at her contractor, an almost amused look in place. It was, however, quite hidden by the curiosity. "What's so wrong about marriage?"
"Nothing's wrong with marriage!" Oz protested quickly. "It's just that-" he stopped suddenly, running out of things to say. "It's just that marriage is really, really big. It's more than just a promise, it's a commitment made off loyalty and love..."
The chain tilted her head, a vague look of understanding slowly dawning on her face. "And our contract is not big?" she shot in, just to tease her (stupid) manservant.
"Of course it is!" Oz assured her, getting quite frantic. What was he supposed to say? "It's... It's... I don't know what it is! It's important, but it's not a marriage.""Okay." Alice said, nodding slowly. Then she kicked Oz square in the chest. "Why didn't you say that from the beginning, you useless moron of a manservant?" the chain asked, loudly.
Before Oz could answer, Sharon entered. Her adorable-romantic-scene sense had ringed just moments before, and she wanted to know what was going on.
Upon entering, she found the chain with her foot on her contractor's shoulder, about to kick him fully to the floor. Nothing new ever happened with those two. "I swear the two of you sometimes act like an old married couple. Except much more childish!" the legal contractor huffed, before turning to leave.
Blinking after her, the couple stared at the closed door. "Are you sure we're not married?" Alice asked, that strange not-embarrassed look back on her face.
"No, I'm not." Oz answered, the same look on his face.
Wah! I'm so sorry it took me one hundred years to write something so OOC! It's been too long since I last watched the anime. -_-' Stupid me...
Please leave a review telling me of... Wait, don't bother telling me what you liked/disliked. You'll probably say that you hated the OOC'ness... -_-' I've failed!
