Wind was hunting, hunting for something. It crashed into a forest, it was close. Wind worked its way through the trees, winding and dodging until up ahead, yes, it was freedom. Wind burst free from the eerie quiet of the forest and dashed towards the dark castle ahead, looking for a human because wind knew the pasts of the humans. So weak and frightened, so small and so beautiful. The human wind was searching for was a special one. Wind had taken a liking to him. Wind felt the human on the north side; something was calling him to the north side of the mound of bricks, mortar and magic. Wind wound its way around the west tower and dove towards the source. Wind knew it was the human, knew it was scared. As the human came into view, wind remembered that one. Blonde hair as light as the sun.
Wind remembered rippling through that hair on a warm day, remembered the smile formed on its face.
Wind remembered his shiver as it blew through his cloak in the winter.
Wind remembered the blonde one as a child, while he trembled. The Father was standing over the blonde one, yelling like lightning. Then, *CRACK* the father that was so much like lightning struck. The blonde child cowered, a single drop of water dripped from its eye. Wind was angered, wind struck at the windows, trying to get in, but the windows just sneered back. Grey eyes widened at the sound of wind, wind felt his fear, but wind did not want this one to be afraid of him, wind wanted to protect this one. Wind stayed at that window all night, trying to comfort the child as he wept. The child wasn't comforted. The child became even more afraid of wind, thinking that wind wanted to hurt him just as his father had. Wind left when the sun came. It returned later, trying to get in the house the help the child, the house wouldn't let wind in.
Wind liked castles, all full of drafts and old dusty things. Wind could easily get inside a castle. He looked at the blonde one, no longer a boy. Wind went for the boy, not out of anger, but of joy for seeing him once more. Wind wrapped itself around the blonde's face. The blonde took a deep breath. He was crying. Wind blew at the tears, trying to blow them away gently. Wind knew he was nervous. It caressed his hand, trying to comfort the boy once more. This time it worked. The boy shook, but smiled into Wind.
Wind smiled back.
She was happy.
