"So, have you gone to see Lucas yet?" Nathan Scott asked a very distraught Brooke Davis.

"No. Peyton's probably wanting to be alone with him right now," Brooke said looking at her best friend, Haley James Scott, laying in her hospital bed asleep. Brooke knew she loved Lucas but Peyton loved him too. And she thought Lucas loved Peyton.

"Peyton just left. I talked to her and she said when he woke up he said he wanted to see you," Nathan said giving Brooke a warm, sincere look.

"Okay. I'll stop by, just to make sure he's okay," Brooke said as she got up and left.

Brooke entered Lucas's hospital room. She saw Lucas, who was hooked up to IVs and tubes, and she started crying.

"What? Brooke? What are you doing here?" Lucas said waking up.

"I came by to see Haley and I just thought I'd...well, nevermind. I'll let you rest. Bye" Brooke said as she started to back out of the room.

"No! I mean, come sit with me for a minute. Friend," he said smiling weakly.

"Okay. Yeah." Brooke said obviously hurting inside. She walked over and sat in the chair beside his bed.

"Okay. So, I'm pretty sure this is the pain medicine talking but I miss you." Lucas said bluntly.

"I miss you too." Brooke said crying.

"I need you. I need to talk to you. I need to kiss you. I need to be with you. I need you, Brooke Davis. I thought I needed Peyton but I don't. She's a great girl but she's not you. I need you." Lucas said grabbing Brooke's hand.

"I need you too." Brooke said getting on the bed and laying beside him.

"Let's get married," Lucas said sitting up straight and looking at her.

"Luke!" Brooke said laughing

"I'm serious," he said touching her cheek.

"Okay. Let's get married," she said kissing him, "You don't know how scared I was."

"I don't want to lose you," Lucas said.

"I don't want to lose you either. I want to be with you forever."

"Okay. Then it's settled. We're getting married," Lucas said smiling for the first time since the accident.

"We're getting married," Brooke said before Lucas captured her lips in what she'd always refer to as the moment she knew she'd always be with him.
